People’s level of relationships with their neighbours form a microcosm of
society, which if healthy and sound then generally society will be too. This fact has
been recognised by all cultures and faiths throughout human history, which is why the
importance of developing a respectful, caring and compassionate relationship with
neighbours is shared by all.
Sadly, the trend of individualism today has caused the traditional bond of
neighbourly relations to decay. Thanks to the emergence of social media, interaction between
people is at an all time high. Whilst we are more ‘connected’ than ever before, ironically,
we often find ourselves withdrawn and isolated — even from the neighbour who lives next door.
